Lion Leon Lee (#11) won the Tail
Twister’s pot on the first drawing. Attendance for our first meeting of
2005 was 22 members and 5 guests.
Mr. John McKeel, with Union Planters
Bank, was a guest of Lion Jim Mashburn. Also, Past District Governor and
Council Chairman, Jeff Boone, was a guest of the club.
Lion Norine Westerbrook and Linda
Turner, representing the National Camp for Blind Children, presented our
club with a certificate of appreciation for the recent donation by the
club to the local chapter of the National Camp for Blind Children. This
donation will sponsor one child to the camp this summer in Hot Springs.
It was good to see Lion Jim
McAlister back in our den after several weeks of absence because of
illness. Let’s remember Lion Jim in our prayers as he battles his
illness.
Lion Ken Helman reported receiving a
gift of $200.00 for Dyeann’s House from the employees of Rowsey
Furniture in honor of their boss, Larry Rowsey.
Mr. Lee Brun was our speaker this
week. Lee has been the Golf Pro at the Jonesboro Country Club for the
past 27 years. He talked about the PGA Tour and general discussion about
the qualifications to be a participant in the PGA tournaments.
Lions Bobby Wood and Leon Lee do a
good job at arranging programs and speakers for our breakfast meetings.
If you know of any programs to suggest to them, they would appreciate
your advice.
