Jonesboro Airport topic at UH Lions Tuesday morning meeting

With air traffic up and commercial carrier AirChoice One doing well, The Jonesboro Municipal Airport is doing well, Airport Manager George Jackson told UH Lions at the club’s first meeting of the new year Tuesday.

Jackson also noted that runway length, but load-bearing, is an issue on the airport’s aprons, taxiways and runways. The airport has one runway of 6,200 feet and a second at about 4,200 feet in length. Both are 150 feet wide.


  • TV Auction wrap-up meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene Youth Building.
  • Lions Car Show is 90-days away.
  • Past District Governor Norene Westerbrook’s mother is hospitalized with a heart condition. Prayer for her was asked.


Tuesday’s meeting was called to order by Lion President Jim Watkins at 6:52 a.m. with Lion Tail Twister Bill Dickens doing his thing. Lion Brad Baker won the pot drawing; Lion Donnie Kissinger led the song; Lion Ron McCormick the pledge and Lion Tony Bari the prayer.
There were 18 members present and the speaker. Jackson Was introduced by Program Chairman Ken Stallings.
Adjournment was at 7:37 a.m.
