Lion Ruby Brogdon (#28) was
absent and Lion Jim McAlister (#53) won the Tail Twister’s pot on
the second drawing. Attendance at this week’s meeting was 25
members and 2 guests.
Next Monday, January 17th
with weather permitting, we will fly the flags in honor of Dr.
Martin Luther King and Robert E Lee. As of Tuesday, we were short
of workers on the East Highland Drive route. Call Lion Mark Poe if
you can work a flag route.
Attention all Car Show
Committee members - There will be a Car Show Committee meeting
next Tuesday, January 18th at 7:00 PM at Forest Home
Church of the Nazarene. All committee members need to attend and
any other club members who desire to work on the car show. The
dates of our car show are March 19 & 20.
Lion Bill Dickens is running a
"close out sale" on the balance of the pecans that have not been
sold. You can now buy the bags of pecans for only $5.00 or the
decanters for $17.00. This is the actual club costs of the pecans.
Let’s help Bill get rid of his inventory now.
Lion Gary Glisson has the
dates of February 4 & 5 for our next White Cane Day. This will be
on Friday and Saturday at the Wal Mart Store on Highland Dr.. Put
this date on your calendar to work White Cane.
Those members and spouses who
attended the 75th Anniversary of the Trumann Lions Club
last week enjoyed a good meal and fellowship with Lions all over
Arkansas. First International Vice President Lion Ashok Mehta from
Mumbai, India gave a great speech on world service projects by
Lions International. Our club was represented with 7 members plus
spouses and children.
Mr. Steve Culp, Craighead
County Extension Agent, assisted by Mr. Branon Thiesse, was our
speaker this week. Steve has been in the county extensions service
for 24 years. He talked about the many programs available through
the county agent’s office.
Next Thursday will be a
business meeting with minutes of the board meeting and financial
reports by the Secretary and Treasurer. Also, new member
inductions and committee reports.
Mrs. Yvone Clark will be our
speaker on January 25th. She is the Volunteer Services
Coordinator for the NEA Medical Center. (Her other claim to fame
is she is the daughter of our Intrepid Song Leader).
