Lion Albert Frankenberger (#4) was the winner of the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing. Our attendance was 21 members plus 2 guests. Guests were our District Governor Norine Westerbeck and Lioness Mary Hartwig.
Lion Charles Hartwig displayed the Peace Poster submitted by Katy Lewis of the Nettleton Intermediate School which won 4th place in the state Lions competition. The title of her poster was "Peace Around the World".
Our newest member Lion Curt Hodges was inducted into the club by Lion Brad Baker. Lion Curt’s sponsor is our President Lion Ron Erwin.
Lion Ken Helman read the minutes of the January 10 Board of Directors meeting and Lion Tommy White gave the financial report which stated a bank balance of $7,222.43 with the Operating Fund having a balance of $4,315.57 and the Activity Fund with a balance of $2,906.86 as of December 31.
The Pecan Sales are going great with only a few bags left to sell. Income from the pecan sales will be in excess of $6,000.
There will be a car show committee meeting next Tuesday, January 22 at the Forest Home Church of the Nazarene at 7:00 PM. Sponsorships need to be sold at $1,000, 500, 250, or 100. This is money that is 100% profit to our club and will make the difference for a successful car show. Lion Ken Helman is in charge of show sponsorships.
There will be an all district Lions Leadership Workshop hosted by District 7-0 on February 16, 2008 at ASU Beebe from 9:00AM to 3:00PM. Past International Director Dr. John Pierce will be the main speaker. Advise Lion PDG Pat Snodgrass if you can attend.
Next Monday is a flag day for Dr. Martin Luther King and General Robert E Lee. Weather permitting we will fly the flags on Monday, January 21st.
Next Tuesday, January 22, our program will be Dr. Gil Fowler with some of his ASU students on their trip to Kuwait. A good time to invite a guest or prospective member.
Western Sizzlin has advised us they will no longer be able to serve our club breakfast after this month due to limited help. We will meet at Western Sizzlin’ for our January 22 and 29 breakfast meetings and February 5 for our evening meeting. A search committee of officers will find a place to have breakfast meetings within the next 2 weeks.
