Lion PDG Pat Snodgrass (#31) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing.
Attendance was 17 members plus 4 guests. Mr. Jim Durham was a guest of Lion Donnie Kissinger, Mr. Jerry Casteel was a guest of Lion Bill Levins and we had the Peace Poster winner from Jonesboro Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School, Shelby Tarver and her mother Regina Tarver. Shelby showed a copy of her winning poster and gave an interpretation of her work. Shelby received a check from our club in the amount of $50.00.
We are happy to report that Lion Don Vineyard had his back surgery on the 18th and is recovering nicely. He is in room 212 at NEA Hospital.
This was our regular monthly business meeting with Lion Secretary Charles reading the minutes of the January 12 Board of Directors meeting and Lion Treasurer Ron giving the club financial report. As of December 31, our bank balance was $21,031.24 with $18,768.15 in the Activity Fund and $2,263.09 in the Operating Fund.
Thanks to our Finance Committee and Secretary Charles we have now mailed to the IRS forms necessary to get our delinquent Federal and State reporting current. So far it has only cost our club about $850.00 to get our club current in reporting the nonprofit status to the IRS and Secretary of State of Arkansas.
The City of Jonesboro Advertising & Promotion Committee has rewarded our club $5,000 to promote our Car Show, March 30, 31 & April 1. We requested $9,500. We need to get on with planning and promotion of our Car Show by signing up show sponsors and getting door prizes.
Lion Bill Dickens has a few pecans unsold and would like to get this project completed. We are selling the remaining nuts at $6.00 a bag (our cost). Lion Bill estimates a profit of $4,000 for the club.
We will have a delegation going to Clarksville for the Lions of Arkansas Mid- Winter Forum. It will be held at the College of the Ozarks, January 27-28. Registration fee of $22.00 will be paid by the club for any member attending the Forum.
