Lion Jerry Garrett’s lucky #7

This was our monthly
business meeting with the Secretary reading the minutes of the
January 13 Board of Directors meeting and the Treasurer giving
the club financial report. Our bank balance on December 31 was
$7,634.68 with $1,090.32 in the Operating Fund and $6,545.36
in the Activity Fund. Each week our meal cost is $189.00 as we
have to guarantee Western Sizzlin 35 meals @ $5.40. We need
additional members to satisfy the meal costs of our club. The
present club membership is 42 members of which 4 are members
at large.
Thanks to Lamar
Advertising and Lions Jerry Garrett and Bill Levins we now
have a nice billboard sign on Nettleton Ave and Raines Street.
Lion Tommy White is now
taking ads for the Car Show program. The ads sell for $50.00
to $175.00. Also we are seeking sponsors for the Car Show.
Sponsorships are $1,000 or $500 with each sponsor receiving
several valued items and recognitions form the club. Deadline
to receive all media advertising is February 15 and to receive
print advertising is March 7. This is extra money for our car
show that is badly needed to make our show successful.
The sign up sheet for
White Cane will be going around next Tuesday. White Cane Day
is Friday and Saturday, February 4 & 5. We need every member
working White Cane on those days. Lion Gary Glisson is White
Cane chairman, our goal is $1,500.00.
Mrs. Yvonne Clark will be
our speaker next week, She is the volunteer Services
Coordinator for the NEA Medical Center. She is the activity
advisor of senior care programs.
We still have some pecan
decanters to sell at a bargain price of $15.00 and a few bags
of chocolate covered at $5.00.
The club is collecting
discarded cell phones, print cartridges and toner to sell.
Lions Ed Larson and Charles Hartwig are handling this project.
