Guests this week were Payton
Glisson, a guest of his father Lion Gary Glisson and Robbie Redmon,
a guest of his uncle Lion David Redmon. Our attendance was 26
members plus 3 guests.
Next weekend Friday and Saturday
February 4-5 is the dates of our White Cane Days. If you have not
signed the work schedule please do so next Tuesday as we need every
member working White Cane!! Our goal is $1,500. See Lion Gary
Glisson for your time to work.
The Car Show Committee will meet
next Tuesday February 1 at 7:00 PM at Forrest Home Church of the
Nazerene. All members are welcome to attend the Car Show Committee
meeting. Andrea Morrow of KAIT 8's Good morning Region 8 has agreed
to make an appearance at our Car Show on Sunday from noon until 2.
There may be other media people to make appearances as well. In the
mean time we need sponsors for our Car Show. Take the U-H lions Club
Fact Sheet that our Car Show Committee has made up and call on
businesses that may be sponsors for our show. Sponsorships $1,000 or
$500. The sponsors receive various items and recognitions to promote
their businesses.
The next Board of Directors
meeting is Feb. 10 at Couch’s at 6:30 AM. Any member is welcome to
attend the board meetings of your club. This is where the actual
business of running the club takes place. Your input is appreciated.
Our next Flag Day is Feb. 21 for
Presidents Day. We were short approximately 10 flags on our last
flag day. If you have any flags that need to be returned to the flag
barn, please return them so we can get an accurate count to order
some more flags. Advise lion Mark Poe of any flag brackets that need
attention.
Mr. Yvonne Clark, Volunteer
Services Coordinator for NEA Medical Center was our speaker this
week. Yvonne talked about the new senior program, active Advantage
being sponsored by NEA Medical Center. The Active Advantage program
is for persons 50 years and over. Being a part of Active Advantage
member gives the opportunity to enjoy exiting and educational
activities and access many services and discounts on items ranging
from prescriptions to car rentals, insurance to flowers and more.
Cost of the membership fee is 415.00 per year or $25.00 per couple.
