Lions K. Rex
Mayfield (#8) and Brad Carson (#44) were absent and
Lion Bobby Wood (#35) was the winner of the Tail
Twisterís pot. Our attendance was 25 members.
There will be a Car
Show Committee meeting next Tuesday, February 6 at
7:00 p.m. at the Forrest Home Church of the
Nazarene. Our car show is only 7 weeks away and much
work needs to be done. Every member needs to get
involved with our number 1 fund raising project.
February 10 also at the Forrest Home Church there
will be a meeting for Lions of Arkansas and Southern
Missouri about Lions International Campaign Sight
First II. We need some representation at this
meeting from our University Heights Lions Club. If
you can attend, the meeting will start at 11:00 a.m.
and work through lunch (which will be provided for
free) and hope to adjourn no later than 4:00 p.m.
Let Lion Brad Baker know if you can attend so he
will know how much food to provide.
First II working through LCIF has set a goal of 200
million dollars to be used to eliminate preventable
and curable blindness around the world by the year
The Arkansas Lions
State Convention will be in North Little Rock on
April 13-14 at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel. Advise
Lion Secretary Ed if you wish to attend.
The 2007 Lions
International Convention will be in Chicago July
The Board of
Directors meeting will be Thursday, February 15 at
Couchís Restaurant at 6:30 am.
Rev. Jerry Schleiff,
brother in law of our Lion Ron Erwin was our speaker
this week. Jerry told of his experiences in the
mission field in Africa and Pakistan, 28 years in
Africa and 4 years in Pakistan. He gave us so much
interesting information about the Islam religion.
His talk was
enjoyed by all in attendance.
Lion Bobby Wood has
the following programs scheduled for February:
February 6 Dr. Kim
Willbanks, Assistant Superintendent of Jonesboro
Public Schools. She will be talking on the subject
of magnet schools.
February 13 Charles
Frierson, Jonesboro City Council
February 27 Lion
Charles Hartwig, talking about his recent trip to
Next Flag Day is
February 19 for Presidentís Day.
