Lion Paul Cossey (#33) and Lion Randy Dent (#23) were absent and Lion “Gimmy-Gimmy” Bill Levins (#39) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the third drawing.

Attendance was 17 members plus our speaker.

Our Car Show will soon be upon us.  We need to sign up sponsors and vendor booth registrants.  Sponsorship levels can be from $1,000, $500, $250,  $100 or purchase weekend passes to the show at $12 each (a $16 value).  Since the Jonesboro Advertising & Promotions Commission cut their contribution by $4,000, we need to make up that loss with more sponsors and vendors.  The absolute deadline for receipt of sponsorships to be included in advertising is March 1, 2012.

We have only 1 more meeting at Gina’s Place.  Beginning Tuesday, February 14, we will meet for breakfast at Chef’s Inn Downtown Café, located at 105 Burke St.  This also may be an opportunity to recruit merchants and other people working in the downtown area into our club.  Maybe form a committee to visit each establishment downtown.  Our membership committee is Brad Baker, Chairman, Bill Dickens, Vern Drake and Ron Erwin.  Every member could help on membership drive, car show sponsorships, and flag subscriptions.

The next Board of Directors meeting will be at Chef’s Inn on Thursday, February 16 at 6:30 AM.

Our next Flag Day will be Monday, February 20 for Presidents Day.

Mr. Homer Lenderman, State Representative from Brookland was our speaker this week.  Homer had a real good and interesting talk about our state government and local problems that need to be addressed.  He stated that the one problem facing our state is financing.  He also said we have a true friend in the Governor’s chair witth Mike Beebe.

Thanks to Lion Curt Hodges for serving as program chairman this month as we had some excellent programs.  Lion Curt may have to serve as President the next few weeks as our President Larry Hinck will have to undergo some knee surgery.  Let’s pray for Larry to have a speedy recovery.

Lion Tony Bari will be our Program Chairman during the month of February.  He has the following programs scheduled:

Feb.   7 – Teddy Hooton, The Valley View Ruritan Cub Scout Pack 1225-Cub Master

Feb.  14 – Dr. Bill Panneck-AR MOM-Mission of Mercy-Dental Clinic to be held at ASU                                   Convocation Center

  Feb.  21 – Business meeting

See you Tuesday.  BRING A GUEST.
