Tuesday -February 1, 2005
Lion Mark Poe (#21) was absent and
Lion Marcy Harrell (#17) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the second
drawing.
Guests this week were Greg
Chance, with KASU, and Payton Glisson a guest of his father, Lion
Gary Glisson. Our attendance was 24 members plus 3 guests.
This is White Cane Week with
members collecting on Friday and Saturday at the Highland Drive Wal
Mart Store. As of Tuesday, we had 21 members signed up to work. That
leaves 21 members that have not signed to work and we have 11 time
slots without workers. Lion Gary Glisson said each time slot that is
not worked, the club will lose approximately $50.00. Our White Cane
goal is $1,500. Call Lion Glisson if you can work or if you need to
change your shift. His number is 870 897-1899.
Lion Bill Dickens has only 15
decanters of pecans left and at $15.00 per decanter, you are getting
a real bargain. They make a good valentine’s present.
Our program this week was given
by Charlott Jones, CPA Jones & Co , LTD. As usual, Charlott gave us
a most informative program on filing our 2004 Federal and State
income tax returns. Two new Federal tax legislations, for 2004, are
the Working Families Tax Relief Act and the American Jobs Creation
Act.
Programs scheduled:
Feb 8 Phyllis Burkett, Director
of Craighead County and Jonesboro Public Library
Feb 15 Business Meeting
Board of Directors meeting
Thursday, February 10th at 6:30 AM at Couch’s Restaurant.
Remember the Car Show is only 6
weeks away and much work is needed by every member getting
sponsorships, program ads, door prizes and ticket sales. The
deadline to receive media advertising is February 15th
and the deadline to receive print advertising is March 7th.
Lions Bobby Wood and Leon Lee
have had some good programs. Invite a guest or prospective member to
our Lions Club. Their breakfast is on the club as guests eat free at
the best Lions Club in Arkansas.
