At our Tuesday weekly meeting today, Lion Ron McCormick (# 48) won the pot
on the first drawing.
Attendance was 20 members and four guests.
1. To the surprise of several members, it was noted that the club does in
fact have a Facebook page, thanks to our webmaster Bill Dickens. Check it
out! Lion Norm Dickson volunteered to add in an events section - or
something along those lines.
2. Lion Robert Bahn noted with some satisfaction that the flag
brackets for Iberia Bank are in fact down and gone! [They are history!]
February Program Chair Tony Bari revealed that the scheduled speaker had
emailed him that very morning, saying that she had suddenly come down with a
bad stomach virus, and would be unable to attend our meeting. We thus had
more time to talk about our upcoming car show and other events.
1. Car Show [April 5-7] planning details and issues were discussed at
length, led by chair Brad Baker, with an assist from other Car Show
Committee members. One issue is what kind of special attraction could be
scheduled to attract more visitors to the show, since attendance is crucial
to the success of the project. Members were asked to make suggestions to
committee members - and soon! Sponsors were also needed - Robert Bahn read
off the list of last year's sponsors, and seemed to be appointed to head up
the search for more sponsors this year - at least 30 are needed.
2. It was briefly noted that we had four members who had attended the
state-wide Mid-Winter Forum the previous weekend in Clarksville - Lions
Bryan Ulmer, Brad Baker, Pat Snodgrass, and Donnie Kissinger. They had some
helpful things to report, but those will have to wait, as we ran out of
Next week program:
Our meeting next week will feature the local winners of our
2012-2013 Lions International Peace Poster contest at our three
participating schools for 11-13 year olds: Westside Middle School,
Nettleton Middle School, and the International Studies Magnet School. Their
posters had been sent on to participate in the regional District 7-0 contest
after our local contests last November. The three winners and their
parents and art teachers will be our guests, and the artists will
get their posters back, along with certificates from the District Governor,
prizes for those who won them, and cash from the District for ALL who
