Tuesday - February 10, 2004
Lion Faris Lassiter (#26) was the
lucky winner of the Tail Twister’s pot this week.
Mr. Driss Elakrich was a guest
of Lion Charles Hartwig (although he was absent). Our attendance was
down this week with only 22 members present.
This being our regular monthly
business meeting, Lion Secretary Brad Carson read the minutes of the
February 5th Board of Directors meeting and Lion
Treasurer Ed Larson gave the financial report which showed a bank
balance of $4,481.52 with $3,520.42 in the Activity Fund and $961.10
in the Operating Fund. Due to a shortage of funds, we are curtailing
local sight expenditures and other budget items until after the car
show income is received.
The
car show is only five weeks away. Every member needs to work on
getting ads for the program which has a deadline for publication of
March 1st. Also goody bag items and door prizes are
needed. The goody bag stuffers will need these items by March 15th
for approximately 200 bags. Lion Marvin Schnoedel will have the
advanced sale tickets next Tuesday. They will sell for $7.00 each.
Each member is asked to sell or buy at least 10 tickets. As of
Tuesday, we have 26 cars registered for the show. Put the dates of
March 19, 20, & 21 on your calendar as we need every member working
2 or more shifts on those 3 days.
Lion Gary Glisson has
volunteered to publish a U-H Lions Club directory. He will be
gathering information about each member and their family and
occupation. This will be good information to have and to distribute
to new members.
Lion Bobby Wood has the
following programs scheduled:
Feb 17 City Team Ministries with
Jason Bowen and Rennell Woods
Feb 24 City Water & Light with
Adam Saulsbury
Remember next Monday, February
16, is Presidents Day and we will fly the
flags, weather permitting.
Many of our members personally
knew Past International Director Herman West of Searcy. He was a
great Lion who passed away last week in Hot Springs. Lion Herman
served as President of Mid
South, Lions World Services for
the Blind and many other positions of leadership to the Lions of
Arkansas. He will be missed.
The next car show committee
meeting will be next Tuesday, February 17, at 7:00 PM at the Forest
Home Church of the Nazarene. All members are welcome.
