Lion Curt Hodges (#8) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing.  Our attendance was 16 members plus 2 guests.

Remember the Board of Directors meeting this Thursday, February 12, at 6:30 AM, at our regular meeting place – Al’s Family Restaurant on Gee Street.

Monday, February 16, is a flag day for Presidents Day.  As of Tuesday, we need a good Lion to put out the flags on Nettleton Ave., #2 route.  Call Lion President Vern if you can help.

The Car Show Committee will be meeting next Monday evening, February 16 at 7:00 PM at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene.  All committee members need to attend.  As of Tuesday, we had 17 cars and 3 vendors pre-registered for the show.  We are needing sponsors signed up now.

The Arkansas Lions State Convention will be meeting at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, May 22 – 23.  Our club will pay the registration fee of $35.00 for any member desiring to attend.  Advise Lion Secretary Pat Snodgrass if you are planning to attend the convention.

Our program this week was brought by Nechia Whittingham and Haley Rugger with the Jonesboro Craighead County Public Library.  A special exhibit entitled “Visions of the Universe” will be on display at the Public Library during the month of February.  “Visions of the Universe: Four Centuries of Discovery” uses historical drawings and diagrams made by Galileo and other early astronomers, along with dramatic images taken by the Hubble Space Telescope and other space missions, to show how our views and understanding of the universe and the objects within it have changed over the centuries.  There will be Star Viewing at Philadelphia School on Saturday, February 28.

Scheduled programs:

            February 17 – Business Meeting

February 24 – Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin, “Crises and the (new) Mayor’s Office” (or Perhaps “What Happened to the promised honeymoon for the new Mayor?)
