UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS LIONS CLUB

Tuesday - February 10, 2015

President Jim Watkins presided at the weekly meeting, which featured 19
Lions in attendance, plus our speaker and three of his students, AND one
guest of Lion Dave Redmon: his son Dave Redmon, Jr.

The Tail Twisters pot was won by Lion Helen Mashburn (#75), which was very
well deserved, as she had driven Lion Jim Mashburn to the meeting, who not
long ago had been in the hospital. We were delighted to see both of them.

Announcements:

- Car Show. Committee Chair Ron McCormick said that a Car Show Committee
meeting will be held next Monday, Feb. 16th, at 6:30 pm in the Suddenlink
Media office, and urged all members to attend.

--Flag Day. The club will have a flag day next Monday, February 16th,
Presidents' Day. A sign-up sheet was passed around, and will be sent via
email by Lion Pat Snodgrass to all members shortly.

-- Mid-Winter Forum. PDG Pat Snodgrass reported on behalf of the UH Lions
who attended the state-wide Mid-Winter Forum last weekend in Hope, Arkansas,
that they experienced a very impressive program down there, with 138 Lions
in attendance. Since we will be hosting the 2016 Mid-Winter Forum next year
here in Jonesboro, we will have a tough act to follow.

Program:

February Program Chair Tony Bari introduced the speaker, Dr. Don Bowyer,
Dean of the ASU College of Fine Arts, who in turn introduced three talented
ASU saxophone-playing Music Education majors, from Trumann, Dexter, MO, and
Batesville, who not only demonstrated their talent on their instruments, but
also gave some background on their experiences with music and at ASU. (See
photo below.)
