Tuesday – February 17, 2009

Lions Jim Hall (#19) and Brad Carter (#44) were both absent and Ole Number 2 won the pot.  Our attendance was 15 members plus 4 guests.

Our District Governor Lion John Blackley plus Ali Tucker and her parents, Mike and Tammy Tucker, were guests of the club.  District Governor John Blackley presented an award and check to Ali Tucker, a sixth grader at Nettleton Intermediate Center for winning the 2008-09 Jonesboro and District 7-0 Lions International Peace Poster art contests.  Ali’s entry won the Jonesboro and District 7-0 contest and was 4th in the State contest.  Our club has sponsored the annual art contest for the eighth year in a row.  The event this year attracted some 400,000 entries worldwide.

This was our regular monthly business meeting.  Lion Secretary Pat read the minutes of the February 12 Board meeting and Lion Treasurer Tommy gave the financial report.  Our bank balance on January 31 was $13,215.29 with the Operating Fund having a balance of $4,705.87 and Activity Fund having a balance of $8,509.42.

Thanks to all members who worked the flag routes Monday for Presidents Day.  It was reported that there were not enough flags in the barn to cover all the routes.  If you know of any flags that are not in our flag barn, please return them.  Several of our flag subscribers are delinquent in paying the $35.00 per year for our services.  Help Lion Vern collect these flag accounts.

White Cane Day has been set for April 16 & 17 at the Wal-Mart Store on Highland Drive.

Move-in day for our Auto Show is April 3, 2009.  We need vendors and sponsors now.

The Jonesboro Nettleton Lions Club is having their annual gospel singing concert featuring the Inspirationals this Saturday at 6:00 PM at the Nettleton High School Performing Arts Center.  This is the Nettleton Club’s main fund raising event of the year.

Our speaker next Tuesday, February 24, will be Jonesboro Mayor Harold Perrin.  Let’s have a good turnout next Tuesday and invite guests.
