Tuesday - February
Lion Song Leader
Don Vineyard (#18) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the
first drawing. Our attendance was 22 members present
with no guests.
Each year our club
sponsors a boy or girl to Boys or Girls State. If
you have an eleventh grader in your family that
would like to attend Boys State or Girls State,
please advise Lion President Ron so registration can
be made through the American Legion.
Our two Leo Clubs
at Valley View will have their charter night on
Friday, March 7 @ 6:00 PM at the Valley View Fine
Arts Center. We need to have several Lions at this
event to show our support for these new Leos. Last
week the Leo Clubs raised $300 through Barnes &
Noble Book Fair.
The raffle of the
two Reba McIntire Concert tickets last week netted
our Dyean’s House $250. A work day has been
scheduled for Dyean’s House on Saturday, March 1,
starting at 9:00 AM. Come and bring your yard tools
and other tools to fix, repair, and clean up the
house and yard.
The Arkansas Lions
State Convention will be Friday & Saturday April 4 -
5 at the Eureka Springs Inn of the Ozarks Convention
Center. Room reservations should be made with the
Best Western Motel. Our club will pay the
registration fee for any member attending the
convention. Advise Lion President Ron if you are
planning to attend the State Convention. Mr. Paul
Vitale, motivational speaker, will be a speaker and
International Director Bill Hansen will talk at the
Saturday banquet. This would be a beautiful time to
take a trip to the Ozarks.
The Car Show
Committee will meet next Monday, February 25, at
7:00 PM at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene. All
members need to get involved in our Car Show. This
is the last week to sign up those major sponsors to
get full benefit of the media for our show. Door
prizes and goody bag items need to be collected.
These items can be brought to Roller Farmers Union
Funeral Home or Mashburn’s RV Center. As of today,
we have 41 entrants registered for our show.
Tommy White gave the financial report showing a bank
balance of $8,188.48 with $4,231.50 in the Activity
Fund and $3,956.98 in the Operating Fund.
Lion Brad Baker
will be our speaker next Tuesday as CEO of Mid South
Lions Sight and Hearing Service.
On March 4, we will
meet at Western Sizzlin at 6:00 PM. Program will be
our Peace Poster Contest winners with Laura
Kissinger, Art Teacher at Nettleton Public Schools.
Also, we will have Coach Keith Kissinger talking
about the 2008 ASU Baseball program.
