Our thoughts and prayers go out to Linda Stallings and the Stallings family as Linda undergoes surgery next week in Houston.
Our Car Show activity is progressing well with 81 cars registered, 6 vendors in 8 booths signed up with 12 sponsors giving $13,200. We also have 5 other sponsors with “in kind” services.
We will have the next Car Show Committee meeting on Tuesday, March 22 at 6:30 PM at Farmers Union Funeral Home and stuff the goody bags at that time. Get all items for goody bags to Farmers Union Funeral Home by March 22.
It is necessary that we have new officers elected by April 12; therefore, we will have a nominating committee meeting next Tuesday March 15 at 6:30 PM at Mashburn’s RV Center to nominate new officers for 2011-12. All past presidents are on the nominating committee.
Remember the Lions Leaders Weekend in Memphis with Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing Services on April 8 – 9. This is an excellent time for new members and club officers to actually see what services Mid South gives to persons needing sight and hearing problems corrected through surgery.
Dr. Deborah Persell, Coordinate of the ASU Regional Training Center for Disaster Preparedness Education was our speaker. Dr. Persell talked about earthquake preparedness and what consequences would be incurred if there was a 7.0 scale earthquake from the New Madrid Fault Line. There will be a 7.5 earthquake drill on May 16 for Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri. For more information on disaster preparedness refer to www.ready.gov.
