Lion Cade Wilson (#27) and David Hamilton (#12) were both absent and Lion Ron Erwin (#24) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the 3rd drawing.
Attendance was 17 members plus 2 guests. Mr. Norman Dickson was a guest of Lion Jim Mashburn.
Congratulations to Lion Jim Watkins for earning the Membership Key for sponsoring 2 new members into our Lions Club. Lions Ron McCormick and Donnie Kissinger were sponsored by Lion Jim. Membership Keys are a progressive award by Lions International. Jim’s next step is the Membership Advancement Key for sponsoring 6 members. Each sponsored member must remain in the club for 1 year plus 1 day.
Lion Vern advises we now have 67 cars and 3 vendors registered for our Car Show. We will stuff the goody bags Monday, March 26 at 6:00 PM at Roller Farmers Union Funeral Home. We need goody bag items for 150 to 200 bags. We are also needing door prize items. Bring all these to the funeral home on the 26th or before. We also have window posters to distribute to businesses advertising our Car Show. Show sponsors are still needed, $250 & $100 or the purchase of tickets.
The Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing Service had its quarterly business meeting last weekend at Bentonville. Lions Brad Baker and Larry Hinck attended the 2 day meeting.
Annette Heard, Executive Director of the United Way of Northeast Arkansas was our speaker this week. The United Way of Northeast Arkansas covers 8 counties. Some of the United Way activities are Stuff the Bus, giving our children the tools to enter school ready to succeed, Imagination Library sponsored by Dolly Parson helping children under 5 years old to enter kindergarten. Cash Financial Stability assists people with filing Income Tax returns. Also, Online Volunteer Center is accessible to anyone via their website (www.uwea.org) and YMCA and Salvation Army.
