Tuesday - March 29,
2005Lion Ron Erwin (#24)
was absent and Lion Bill Levins (#39) won the Tail Twister’s
pot on the second drawing.
Our only guest was Cub Payton
Glisson, son of Lion Gary Glisson. Our attendance was 26
members plus 2 visitors. It was good to see Lion Jim McAlister
and Lion Dr. Cade Wilson back in our den.
White Cane Chairman Lion Gary
Glisson advises that he has cleared with the Highland Drive
Wal-Mart Store to have our next White Cane Day on Thursday and
Friday, May 12 & 13. Put these dates on your calendar to work
White Cane.
Thanks to Lion Tommy White for the
excellent programs during the month of March. Lions Bill
Hester and Ron Erwin will be our program chairmen for April.
The Past District Governor, who
helped organize our club in 1963, died this week. He was Past
District Governor (then known as International Councilor),
Jess L Cox, from Wynne. He was District Governor in 1963-64
and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (2 diamonds). Jess lived
to be 95 years old and was a great Lion.
Lion Tommy White is the Nominating
Committee chairman and will be in contact with members
nominated to serve on our club Board of Directors. Please
serve if called upon. The Board of Directors is made up of the
club President, 3 Vice Presidents, Secretary, Treasurer, Lion
Tamers, Tail Twisters, Directors and Membership Chairman.
Our program this week was given by
Mr. Jacob Lynn, Executive Director of the Shawnee District of
the Boy Scouts. The Shawnee District covers 5 North Eastern
Arkansas counties of the Quapaw Area Council of Arkansas. Mr.
Lynn talked about the Boy Scout organization and the influence
of scouting in a boy’s life. This is a most worthwhile project
that our club could be involved in. Do we have a volunteer for
a scoutmaster? Our club sponsored a troop in the 60's and
70's.
