Lion Ken Stallings
(#58) was absent and Lion Janine Helman (#16) won
the Tail Twisterís pot on the second drawing. Our
attendance was 19 members present.
Lion President Ron
Erwin presented Lions Tony Bari, Larry Hinck and
Vern Drake with Certificates of Appreciation for
serving as club officers last year.
Lion Ron Erwin presented the gavel to Incoming
President Lion Vern Drake. Lion Vern emphasized that
Membership will be the number one activity of our
club this year. Our club is needing new members. We
presently have 32 members including 6 affiliate or
members at large. Letís strive to bring in at least
1 member per month for the next 12 months.
Lion Larry Hinck
was presented the Melvin Jones Fellow Award for his
services as our Sight and Hearing Committee Chairman
the past year.
There will be a
meeting next Tuesday, July 8 at 7:00 PM at Lion Vern
Drakeís home at 1608 Montez St for all vice
presidents and any other club member to formulate
new club committees and financial budget for
2008-09. If you have any desire to serve on any
committee, please advise Lion Vern.
Our speaker this
week was Anmol Bhatia, a graduate student in
Political Science at ASU and international student
from India. He left India at the age of 10 and has
been in Arkansas 19 years. He is blind and is a
graduate of the Arkansas School for the Blind in
Little Rock and Henderson State University. He also
has attended our Lions World Services for the Blind
and the William J. Clinton School for Public
