Lion Secretary Ken Stallings (#58) was
the lucky winner of the Tail Twister’s pot on the first
drawing. Most of our members haven’t caught up with Daylight
savings time, as we only had 18 members in attendance and no
guests.
Monday morning, Lion Charles
Hartwig suffered a heart attack and was admitted into the
hospital for heart surgery. He is out of ICU and in room 2007
at St. Bernards Medical Center. Keep Lion Charles in your
prayers for a speedy recovery.
Dr. Connie Meeks, Medical Director
for Arkansas Blue Cross-Blue Shield, was our speaker this week
talking about Act 1220 or 2003. Act 1220 was passed by the
legislature to help improve physical and health of the next
generation of Arkansans with the elimination of child obesity.
38% of children in Arkansas Public Schools are overweight.
This information was discovered after 440,000 public school
students in hundreds of school districts submitted to the
collection of height and weight to calculate the BMI (body
mass index) of the students.
Next week our program will be Mr.
Jason Wilkey, Director of Jonesboro Parks and Recreation.
