Lion Eric Grant (#14) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing.
Mr. James Welborn was a guest of Lion Tony Bari. Attendance was 29 members present.
Congratulations to Lion Gary Glisson upon being awarded the Lion of the 3rd Quarter award.
We will soon be missing Lion Gary in our den, as he and his family will be moving to Little Rock. We will surely miss Lion Gary and Payton in our club activities.
Lion Pat Snodgrass reported on aid that the Salvation Army and other church groups are giving to the Marmaduke tornado victims and the club voted to buy up to 10 pairs of glasses for victims of the tornado who lost their glasses in the storm. Also, there was at least one person who lost a hearing aid and that will be replaced through Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing.
Our speaker this week was Dr. Richard (Dick) Freer, Associate Professor of Social
Work at ASU. Dr. Freer talked about the hardships endured by children of incarcerated parents. Dr. Freer encouraged members to volunteer for mentoring service to these children through PACES. Call 932-1166 for more information on how we can help these children.
Next Tuesday is our regular monthly business meeting and we will elect new officers for 2006-07.
Mr. Joel Gardner, Director of Jonesboro Economical Transit Service will be our speaker on April 25.
All you golfers in the club remember the Trumann Lions Club Charity Golf Classic which will be played in memory of Lion L.B. Baker on Saturday, April 29. This is a one day, two person, 27 hole event at the Trumann Country Club. Tee time 8:00 AM. Call 268-0901 or 483-1098 for more information. $100.00 per team includes lunch and 27 holes of golf.
