Tuesday - April 12, 2005
Lions James Hall (#19) and
David Redmon (#34) were absent and Lion Tommy White (#25) was
the winner of the Tail Twister’s pot.
Our Intrepid Song Leader
led us in the singing of The Battle Hymn of the Republic,
after which the true Southerners of the club sang a rousing
course of Dixie.
Lion President Eric is in
Oklahoma with his ailing father. Please remember Eric’s father
in your prayers. Also, Lion Charles Hartwig is now at home
after another visit to the hospital this week. Please remember
Lion Charles in your prayers and cards and letters of
encouragement toward recovery from his heart problem.
Lion Ken Helman advises
our Dyeann’s House
is now being used daily by children whose parents need help.
On Saturday, April 30, there will be a yard sale at Dyeann’s
House. Bring anything you may have to sell at the yard sale.
That same afternoon we will have a yard clean up work party.
The State Convention is
coming up May 6-7. We have four members attending. This is a
meeting that all new officers should attend. If you have not
advised Lion Secretary Ken that you can attend, please advise
him this week. There will be car pooling transportation to
Little Rock Saturday morning and return Saturday afternoon.
Our program this week was
given by Mr. Jason Wilkie, Director of Parks and Recreation
for the City of Jonesboro. Mr. Wilkie talked about the many
parks and the improvements being made of the parks. We can be
proud of the parks and recreation our city provides.
Next week is our regular
business meeting with secretary and treasurer reports and
final figures, hopefully, on the car show. Also, Lion
Treasurer Vern will be presenting statistics on our club
finances in regards to a possible dues increase to meet our
club obligations of the Operating Fund.
White Cane Day - May 12 & 13.
