Tuesday -April 13, 2004
Lion Ken Stallings (#58) was
absent and Lion PID Scott Rennels (#43) was the lucky winner of the
Tail Twister’s pot. Miss Lonna Baker was a guest of her father Lion
Brad Baker. Our attendance was 27 members and 2 guests.
Remember this weekend is our
open house for Dyeann’s house 9 AM to 3 PM with Mayor Brodell making
a proclamation and ribbon cutting at 10 AM. Let’s have a good
turnout of members for this event. Lionesses are asked to bring
cookies or brownies to go with other food and drink to be served.
Lion Secretary Brad read the
minutes of the April 8th Board of Directors meeting. It
was noted that the Board decided to grant only 1 Melvin Jones Fellow
this year due to shortage of funds. Lion Treasurer Ed presented his
financial statement which showed a bank balance of $9,290.28 with
$1,772.30 in the Operating Fund and $7,517.98 in the Activity Fund.
Lion Bryan Ulmer presented the
club’s sight and hearing 3rd Quarter and year to date
statistics. From July 1, 2003 to March 31, our club has helped 97
needy people with eye exams, glasses and hearing services. Three
people were sent to Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Service in
Memphis for hearing exams.
Lion Brad Baker passed out a
booklet of miraculous stories by the Lions who helped make The
Miracles of Mid-South happen. These are stories submitted by Lions
who have witnessed first hand miracles performed at Mid-South by
restoring sight to young people. If you did not get a copy of these
stories, see Lion Brad or Mark.
White Cane Days are coming up
for May 13th and 14th at the Wal-Mart Store on
Highland. Lion Gary Glisson is our White Cane Chairman.
New officers will be elected
this month. If you desire to serve as an officer, please advise one
of the past presidents. We will be electing a 3rd Vice
President, Treasurer, and 3 Directors.
Our program this week was our
District Governor Jeff Boone making his official visit to our club.
He stressed membership in our club and district. Our District 7-0 is
presently short 84 members of the required 1250 members to be a
qualified sub-district. He also reminded us that lady Lions can join
without paying the initiation fee. Lion Jeff also encouraged our
club to visit other clubs in our district, and attend the State
Convention in North Little Rock on May 7th & 8th.
Our own Lion Pat Snodgrass will be the New District Governor for
2004-2005. Let’s have a good delegation to the convention for Lion
Pat.
