Lion Tony Bari (#10) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing. Attendance was 21 members and no guests.
This was our regular monthly business meeting. The Secretary read the minutes of the April 12 board of directors meeting and our Treasurer presented the financial report for the month of March. As of March 31, our bank balance was $26,334.49 with $19,664.02 in the Activity Fund and $6,670.47 in the Operating Fund.
This is the weekend of the "Scramble for Sight" Golf Tournament at The Links. Tee time is 9:00 AM with 27 holes of golf and lunch. If you don’t play golf, come out and help register or do other duties that need to be done to help put on the tournament. All proceeds go to Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing.
We had 7 Lions attending the State Convention last Saturday - Lions Ken and Janine Helman, Ed Larson, Pat Snodgrass, Brad Baker, Eric Grant and Dave Redmon. During the "parade of checks", our club presented a total of $9,500 to the various state projects, namely - Lions World Services for the Blind, Mid South Sight & Hearing, Lions UAMS Eye Bank and Leader Dog.
The UHLC Awards and Installation of New Officers Banquet will be Friday, June 29, at 6:30 PM at the Jonesboro Country Club. The cost per person will be $14.25 including tax and tip. We must guarantee 50 people for a buffet with teriyaki chicken, salad, dessert, coffee, and tea. Please invite friends and family so we can cover the 50 minimum.
Lion Pat Snodgrass made a good talk about LWSB and the plans for expansion to a new facility near the President Clinton Library in downtown Little Rock. The new facility will cover more than 167,000 square feet and will house and train 200 people on the campus. The cost of the project will be approximately $41,000,000.
Mrs. Cynthia Bahn, wife of Lion Robert Bahn, is our new administrator of Dyeanne’s House and our Lion Pat Snodgrass has volunteered to serve as a director of Dyeanne’s House, replacing Lion Bryan Ulmer.
April 27 - 28 are the dates for Lions Leaders Weekend at Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing Service. All Lions and spouses are invited to attend this 2 day conference, with tours of the facilities of Mid South in the Hamilton Eye Institute, the outpatient and pediatric clinics for visual and ENT exams, the operating rooms and hear the doctors presentations about how the Lions help people to see and hear every day.
