Lion Marcy Harrell (#17) was the winner of the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing. Our attendance was 23 members plus 2 guests.
District Governor Elect Lion Norine Westerbeck was a guest of the club. As a representative for National Camp for Blind Children, she made a presentation of appreciation to our club for sponsoring a blind child to the 2007 blind camp.
Lion Jim McAlister was presented with The Edward Dalstrom Distinguished Service Award by our club from the Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing Service. The Dalstrom Award is the highest award for meritorious service that is given by Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing Service.
Congratulations to Lion Ken Stallings on the birth of a new grandson named Neil Owen Stallings. The little fellow is in Arkansas Childrens Hospital. Pray for his recovery.
White Cane Days will be May 17 & 18 at Wal Mart Store on Highland. Keep these dates open and sign up to work one or two shifts. Lion Ron Erwin is chairman for White Cane.
The next flag day will be May 19 for Armed Forces Day and also we will fly the flags on May 28 for Memorial Day.
Mr. Muhammad Amin Ulkarim was our speaker this week representing the City of Jonesboro on transportation study for the Metropolitan Planning Organization. Since December 2003, Amin has been the Transportation Study Director for Jonesboro Metropolitan Planning Organization. For the past 20 years, he has worked as a transportation planner in Jonesboro, Corpus Christi, Columbus, Georgia and Springfield, MO. The Metropolitan Transportation Planning Organization has a 20 year plan for improving highway and transit systems in Jonesboro, Bono, Bay and Brookland.

Remember to keep the date of June 29 open for our annual awards and installation of officers banquet. This will be at the Jonesboro Country Club. We need a good turnout for this, as we have to guarantee 50 plates. Cost of the meal will be $14.25 per person.
This weekend, April 27-28, is the date for Lions Leaders Weekend at Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing Service in Memphis.
