Lion Charlie Payne (#32) was
absent and Lion Kevin Reed (#49) was not wearing his badge, so
Lion Marvin Schroedel (#8) won the Tail Twister’s pot.
Guests this week were Payton
Glisson, guest of his father, Lion Gary Glisson and Lion Hubert
Bittle, from the Nettleton Lions Club, was a guest of Lion Mark
Poe. There were 31 members and 3 guests in attendance.
The annual Mid-South Lions
Sight and Hearing Service Auction will be June 4th.
Our club has purchased a table for 8 persons. If you can attend
the Mid-South Auction, advise Lions Brad Baker or Mark Poe. This
is always a gala event with a lot of fun and fellowship.
Our 2004 ASU University
Heights Lions Club scholarship recipient, Ms. Christine Sublett,
wrote a nice thank you letter to the club for the $1,000
scholarship. Ms. Sublett is the mother of 6 children.
May 13th & 14th
are the days our club will work White Cane Days at the Highland
Drive Wal Mart Store. Our White Cane Committee is Gary Glisson,
Chairman, Don Vineyard, Charlie Payne and Ken Helman. Every
member is asked to work at least 1 and ˝ hour shifts.
The State Convention is next
weekend, May 7 & 8 in North Little Rock. The main business
sessions are Saturday. Drive down Saturday morning and be home
Saturday evening. Call Lions Ed Larson or Pat Snodgrass for
details.
Our program this week was
brought by Mr. Dennis Zolmer, representing the Metro Rotary
Club. Mr. Zolmer talked about the Rotary Centennial Park being
built in Craighead Forest Park and sponsored by the three
Jonesboro Rotary Clubs. The park will be especially suited for
both handicapped and non-handicapped children. Cost of the park
will be approximately $1,000,000. Funds are being solicited for
the construction of the park to have a completion date in
September. Ground breaking ceremonies were today.

Election of new officers
will be next Tuesday. Due to increased business activities, Lion
Brad Carson has asked to be relieved of the club secretary
responsibilities and Lion Ken Stallings has graciously agreed to
be our club secretary at least until January 1st.
Remember, the Board of Directors meeting Thursday, May 6th
at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant at 6:30 AM.
