Lion Secretary Ken
Stallings (58) was absent and Lion Bobby Wood (35) won the
Tail Twister’s pot on the second drawing.
Guests this week were
David Redmon, a guest of his father Dave Redmon an Mr. Jerry
Casteel was a guest of Lion Bill Levins. Our attendance was
21 members present.
The Mid South Lions
Sight and Hearing Services will hold their annual meeting
and auction next weekend. The Auction will be June 10 with
the hospitality hour at 5:30 and dinner at 6:30 PM. Our club
has reserved a table for eight at the auction. If you can
attend please advise Lion Albert Frankenberger.
The date of our next
Board of Directors meeting will be June16. This will be the
final board meeting of the present administration and all
new and present officers need to attend. This meeting will
be at Couch’s Restaurant at 6:30 AM, June 16.
There will be an
officers training session Saturday June 18 at Newport ASU.
This is open to all members with new officers being urged to
attend.
Our new District
Governor Lion Andy Slocum has set July 30 for her first
cabinet meeting at ASU Newport. Also our 7-0 District
Convention will be November 5 at Harding University in
Searcy.
Our speaker this week
was Mr. Harold Calkins, CPO with Jonesboro Prosthetic &
Orthotic Laboratory. Mr. Calkins talked to us about the
Jonesboro Church Health Center which has administered to
more than 12,500 patients in its 13 years of operation. This
is the Jonesboro Church health Center annual peach drive and
they are taking orders until June 15 for boxes of Georgia
peaches that sell for $100 per box. Call Harold at 932-6436
if you want to order a box of peaches.
Thanks to all members
who worked flag routes on Memorial Day. Our next Flag Day
will be Tuesday, June 14 for Flag Day.
Council Chairman Lion
Jeff Boone will be the installing officer for our Awards and
Installation banquet on June 28 at 6:30 PM at Western
Sizzlin. There will not be a breakfast meeting on that date.
