At our Tuesday morning meeting this
week, Clinton Kissinger [#16] won the
Tail Twisters' pot on the first
Attendance was 21 members - no guests.
1. Members were reminded and again
asked to sign up on a form for our
annual Awards/Installation Banquet,
which will be NEXT Tuesday evening, June
18th at 6:30 pm, in at the new Fat City
restaurant on E. Johnson Ave., just
past the Hilltop area and Bill's Fresh
Market. [NO morning meeting that
day.] The sign-up sheet ended up with
32 people promising to attend.
Members who may have missed the last
two meetings are of course very welcome
to come as well - just let Lion Tony
Bari know if you plan to attend, at
2. A Flag Day route sign-up form was
again circulated by Flag Chair Pat
Snodgrass, since our next flag day
project is this Friday, June 14, the
official national Flag Day.
3. The Board will meet this
Thursday, June 13th, at 6:30 am in the Chef's
In restaurant. Board members are urged
to attend [and all members are
welcome] to see President Curt
Hodges preside over his last Board meeting
[unless he runs again for club
President in the future, of course].
4. White Cane Days were announced,
to be held at the Highland Ave.
Wal-Mart: Thursday-Friday, June 20-21
(that's NEXT week, folks!), AND
Thursday-Friday, JULY 11-12. Sign-up
sheets will be passed around at the
banquet next Tuesday night.
5. Thanks cards which had been
received were noted by President Curt,
from last week's speaker Jana Wineland,
PediaVision representative C.K.
Chorley (thanking us for purchasing the
SPOT vision screening device from
them and promising to support us), and
Southern College of Optometry student
Marc Musto, one of the SVOSH members
who had spoken to us a few months ago
whose card had photos and details of
the just-completed mission trip to
Honduras which he had been a part
of-which saw over 860 patients.
6. Incoming President Robert Bahn
passed out forms to committee chairs
with past budgeted expenses and
revenues, asking for their input to help
generate a new budget for the coming
Lions fiscal year, which starts on July 1.
Lion Charles Hartwig, subbing for
June program chair Tony Bari,
introduced, with considerable help from
President Curt Hodges, speaker
Kristen Wilkes Davidson, Marketing
Coordinator for the Health South Rehab.
Hospital of Jonesboro, who gave a
lively account of what HealthSouth does,
and what it has meant to her and even
to some club members.
