Lion Jerry Garrett Lucky #7 won the Tail Twister’s pot on
the first drawing.
Guests this week were Payton Glisson and David Redmon,
our attendance was 21 members and 2 guests.
Lion Brad Baker announced that the Mid South Lions Sight
and Hearing annual auction was a great success with funds
raised in excess if $19,000.
In the absence of our scheduled program Lion Brad showed
a video about Mid South and its 60 years of providing
miracles, hope and commitment to helping people with sight and
hearing problems.
Remember this Saturday, June 18, is Officers Training
School, in Newport, for new officers and any other Lion
member. See Lion Pat Snodgrass for details.
At the Board of Directors meeting Thursday morning, the
Treasurer gave the May 31 financial report which showed a bank
balance of $12,040.19, with the Activity Fund of $10,854.49,
and the Operating Fund of $1,185.70.
Other business conducted at the Board meeting was to
send $1,000 to LCIF for one Melvin Jones Fellow and to fund
our ASU University Heights Lions Club Scholarship in the
amount of $1,000.
The Board also directed the Treasurer to send $4,500 to
Dyeann’s House and to include Dyeann’s house as a budgeted
line item on next year’s Activity Fund budget. Dyeann’s House
is presently taking applications for an administrator/house
parent. At the present time, Lioness Debbie Rennels and others
are running the day to day operations with no interruptions of
the service we are giving.
Next week is business meeting and the following week we
will not have a breakfast meeting but will have our New
officers installation and awards banquet on June 28 at 6:30 PM
at Western Sizzlin.
Thanks to all members who worked flag routes last
Tuesday. Our next flag day will be Monday July 4 for
Independence Day.
