Tuesday - June 29, 2004
This meeting was our annual
ladies night and installation of new officers meeting. Lion Ruby
Brogdon (#28) was absent and Lion Tamer Lion Don Vineyard (#18)
won the Tail Twister’s pot. There were 26 members and 16 guests
in attendance.
Lion President Tommy White
made the following awards to outstanding members for their
service to our club during the past year: Scott Rennels, Brad
Baker, Ken Helman, Gary Glisson and Bryan Ulmer were awarded the
Lion of the Quarter Award. Lion Mark Poe was awarded the Lion of
the Year Award and Lion Ed Larson was given a Distinguished
Service Award for his services as club treasurer for the past
two years.
Lion Mark Poe, President of
Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing Services, and Lion Brad Baker,
Executive Director of Mid-South Lions Sight and Hearing
Services, presented Lions David Redmon and Gary Glisson the
Edward Dalstrom Distinguished Service Award.
PID Scott Rennels presented
Lion President Tommy White the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award
from Lion Clubs International Foundation. This is the highest
award that Lions International awards for humanitarian service
by an individual. Our club has awarded this prestigious award to
33 individuals since 1988. This represents $33,000 our club has
contributed to LCIF. However, in return, LCIF has made a grant
to our Dyeann’s House of $75,000.
PID Scott Rennels installed
our new officers for 2004-05.
Next Tuesday our program
will be our own Lion "Santa Claus", Bill Dickens, talking about
his Cache Beauty Supply business. Invite a guest.
Next Monday, July 5th,
will be a flag day for Independence Day. Sell a contract while
working your flag route next Monday.
