Lion David Redmon (#34)
won the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing.
Guests were Mr. Chris
Barber, Chairman of Millage Campaign for JPS, Past
District Governor Jeff Boone and Lion Sharon Schamber,
President of the Petal, Ms. Lions Club. Attendance this
week was 25 members plus 4 guests.
Cox Communications has
given us a date of October 22 for our Lions TV Auction.
The first organizational meeting for the auction will be
Tuesday, August 16 at Western Sizzlin, 7:00 P.M..
Remember the District
7-0 Cabinet meeting which will be at Dyeann’s House this
Saturday July 30 from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. All Lions are
welcome!!
Mr. Steve Singleton,
Superintendent of Jonesboro Public Schools was our speaker
this week. He talked about current trends in our school
system with emphasis on the Governor’s program of No Child
Left Behind NCLB with student achievement in literacy,
math and science technology. Other topics discussed were
safety and security, career academics and learning
community and teacher working conditions with recruitment
and retention.
Next Tuesday, August 2
our speaker will be Coach Steve Roberts, ASU Football.
This will be a good program to invite a guest or
prospective member.
Sheriff Jack McCann
will be our speaker on August 9.
The next Board of
Directors meeting will be August 11 at Couch’s Restaurant
at 6:30 A.M. August 16 will be a business meeting.
