Lion Curt Hodges (#8) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing. Our attendance was 19 members plus 3 guests.

Eva and Miss Francis, our two ladies who cooked and served us at Wester Sizzlin were visiting guests. Eva lives in Jacksonville, FL with her daughter.

The club received a thank you from Iola, the young girl we sponsored to the Blind Camp for Children this summer.

August 8 is the date of the annual Mid South Lions Sight and Hearing Service Auction. As of Tuesday, there were 2 seats available at the U-H table. If you wish to attend, advise Lion Brad Baker.

Good news for our club - Walmart has granted our club the privilege of conducting White Cane collections at the Walmart Store on Highland. Dates for White Cane Days will be advised next month.

This was a sad week for our club in the loss of Lion Ed Larson. Lion Ed was a faithful member of our club since May of 1983 and until he became ill had 25 years of 100% attendance. While he lived in Florida he was the District Governor of Florida District 35-F from 1999 - 2000. Lion Ed was one of the main members who organized the car show. Lion Ed was most active in every project of our club, plus the state projects of Mid South, LWSB, and Lions of Arkansas Foundation. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow, a recipient of the Edwin Dalstrom Distinguished Service Award and was a Life Member of our club. We will surely miss Lion Ed.

Our program this week was Dr. Brandt Smith who told of his experiences in Iraq as Director Consultant and Trainer with Millennium Relief and Development Services in Baghdad, Iraq. Dr. Smith was sent to Baghdad and served 2 years as a Baptist missionary in the red zone of Baghdad. He has written a book entitled "Between Two Rivers".
