Lion Tail Twister Ken Stallings (#58) won the pot on the first drawing.
Our attendance was 19 members plus 3 guests. Guests were Jim Shehorn, Clem Wixted and Jacob Holloway. They were all guests of Lion Dave Redmon.
This was our monthly business meeting with the reading of the minutes of the August 12 board meeting by Lion Secretary Charles Hartwig. Lion Treasurer Ron Erwin gave the financial report which showed a bank balance of $10,230.04 as of July 31 with $4,062.04 in the Operating Fund and $6,167.10 in the Activity Fund.
Dates have been set for White Cane Days to be September 9 and 10 at Kroger. The sign up sheet was passed around and every time slot was covered. Thanks to all who signed. Our budget for White Cane is $2,000. These funds are needed for local sight until our Pecan Sales come in November and December.
Dates for our Lions TV Auction will be December 4 or 11.
Our next flag day will be September 6 for Labor Day. If you know of any brackets that need attention, please advise Lion Bill Levins in writing.
The Charter Night for the new Batesville Lions Club is this Saturday, August 21.
Lion Ken Stallings advises there will be a production at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene titled “Mayberry Night” featuring David Browning portraying Deputy Barnie Fife on August 28. Tickets are $25.00.
We still are investigating having a kiosk in the Mall at Turtle Creek in November and December for our pecan sales.
This Saturday Drs. Jacob and Megan Moll are having their grand opening for Hilltop Eyecare from 10 to 2:00 PM. Used eyeglasses will be collected and information about our Lions Club activities will be given by Lions Charles, Bill and Pat. A mobile eye clinic will be conducted on Friday. Hilltop Eyecare & Optical is located at 3705 E Johnson. The Molls are good prospective members for our club.
