Lions Don Vineyard

were absent and Lion Marcy Harrell #17 won the
double pot, including last week’s roll over.
Guests were Past
Council Chairman Lion Jeff Boone from Paragould
and Kathy Gibson with the American Red Cross.
We had 17 members present.
Lion Jeff reported
the results of Lions International Campaign
Sight First has netted contributions of more
than $200 million dollars with District 7-0
giving $50,000, the most in Arkansas.
September 13, we have a final work day at
Dyean’s House scheduled beginning at 9:00 AM.
Tuesday night we
had 7 members attending the Car Show Committee
meeting. The next scheduled meeting for the Car
Show Committee will be Monday, October 20 at
7:00 PM at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene.
The dates of the 2009 Car Show are April 3, 4,
& 5. Be thinking about show sponsors. Lions
Ken Helman and Curt Hodges are co-chairmen for

Tuesday to work White Cane on September 25 & 26
at the Wal-Mart Store on Highland. We need
every member working at least 1 – 11/2 hour
shifts or more.
Our speaker this
week was Ryan Norris, State Supervisor for Donor
Collections of The American Red Cross. 500
units of blood is needed per day and 100 units
of platelets per day is needed in Arkansas to
meet patients needs. Blood and platelet
donations can be made at the American Red Cross
at 1904 Grant Ave. To schedule an appointment
call Kathy at 870 268-1970. Platelets can be
donated every two weeks. A platelet donation
can be made 72 hours after a whole blood
donation, provided the donor’s iron level is
high enough, and no aspirin products for 48
hours prior to donating platelets.
