Lion Gary Glisson (#9) wasn’t wearing his badge and the Tail Twister’s pot went to President Bill Levins (#39) on the second drawing. Table #3 asked Lion Gary to pay their fines.

Guests this week were David Redmon and Payton Glisson, guests of their fathers Lions Gary Glisson and David Redmon. Our attendance was 25 members and 4 guests.

Our 7-0 District Governor Andy Slocum made her official visit to our club this week. Governor Andy encouraged our club to send a good delegation to the District 7-0 Convention in Searcy on November 5 at Harding University. She also announced a contest for clubs in District 7-0 to enter news articles about club projects to get the story out to the public of what activities our Lions Clubs are doing in the community - Toot Your Own Horn! District Governor Slocum is a member of the Quitman Lions Club.

Our program this week was Mr. Charles Beliew with the Social Security Administration. Mr. Beliew talked about the Medicare Prescription Drug Assistance program which starts on January 1, 2006. In order to be covered on January 1, 2006 you must sign up by December 31, 2005. The initial sign up period starts on November 15, 2005. More workers needed at the Disaster Relief Centers set up by the Red Cross and Salvation Army. They are needing luggage or tote bags. If you wish to donate take them to any disaster center.

Next week we will have two club activities- at the Fair we will need members to man our booth for Dyeann’s House and at Wal Mart on Highland we will have White Cane Day on Thursday and Friday. See Lion Ken Helman for work at the Fair and Lion Gary Glisson for White Cane. For White Cane we will be working 1 ½ hour shifts staring at 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Working shifts at the Fair booth will be 2 hour shifts from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Wednesday and Thursday.

There will be a car show committee meeting next Tuesday, September 20 at the Forest Home Church of the Nazerene at 7:00 PM.

We need four members to play in the 2005 Mid-South Lions Golf Tournament on Friday, September 30 at The Club at North Creek, Southaven, Mississippi.
