UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS LIONS CLUB

Tuesday - September 17, 2013

The regular meeting of the University Heights Lions Club was called to order at 6:45 a.m. by President Robert Bahn with most of the members present. The meeting was at our usual venue, the Chef's In Buffet, in downtown Jonesboro [105 Burke Ave.]

Following jokes that went on and on by Tail Twister Brad Baker, the song was led by Lion Bill Dickens in absence of Lion Tommy White, who showed up late for the meeting. After the song, Lion Ken Stallings led, or lifted up,  the prayer

The pot drawing resulted in Lion Louie Ulmer winning - again! (What happened to No. 8?)
A report on Jim Mashburn stated that Lion Jim is home and we all hope he is improving right along. Lion Jim was injured in a vehicle accident.

Well, White Cane Days was worth the effort as $1,048.66 was gathered by the generous folks who shop at Walmart on Highland Drive. We were reminded of the 50th Anniversary Banquet of UH Lions will be held at 6.30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Western Sizzlin restaurant.
. The Lions District 7-0 convention will be held on Friday and Saturday Oct. 4th & 5th beginning at 5 p.m. and at St. Bernards Auditorium.

Pecans have been ordered.

In the regular monthly business meeting, Lion Charles Hartwig read the minutes from the previous month's meeting, which was duly approved by those who were still present.

Lion Treasurer Ron Erwin presented the financial report - we still have money.

Car Show Chairman Jim Watkins said the question still remains s- "To move, or not to move." The question will be decided soon.

Lion Ron McCormick said he is still working on a membership drive.

The annual UH Lions TV Auction will be discussed at an Auction Committee meeting Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Forest Home Church of the Nazarene on Forrest Home Road.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:32 a.m.

Presented by Curt Hodges.
