Lion Albert Frankenberger (#4) was absent and Lion Curt Hodges (#8) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the second drawing.

Attendance was 17 members with no guests.

Our heart felt condolences go to Lion PDG Pat Snodgrass on the passing of his sister, Leila Bloomer, who died at her residence in McComb, MS.

This was our monthly business meeting in which our Lion Secretary Charles Hartwig read the minutes of the September 15 Board of Directors meeting at the Chef’s Inn Restaurant.  Lion Treasurer Ron Erwin read the financial reports which showed a balance in the Operating Fund of $3,184.10 and $4,593.08 in the Activity Fund with a total bank balance as of August 31, in the amount of $7,777.18.

The District 7-0 Convention will be October 7 & 8 to be held at St. Bernard’s Auditorium.  Registration and fellowship will begin at 9:00AM at St. Bernard’s Auditorium.  Placing and perusal of silent auction items should be done at this time.  (Donuts & coffee will be served courtesy of the Nettleton Lions Club).  The guest speaker for our convention will be Past International Director Dana Biggs from Nebraska.  If you register before October 1, the registration fee will be $20.00.  (After Oct. 1, $25.00 at the door).  First time attendee special of $15.00.  Get your registration in next week to Charles or Pat.  Our club will pay for any member attending the convention.  Lunch will be served at 12:15 with entertainment by The Tarkington Family.  The convention will adjourn by 3:15.  There will be a hospitality room at the Lexington Suites, 2909 Kazi St.  Come and meet our visiting out of town club members plus our international speaker at 7:00 PM Friday sponsored by the Nettleton and University Heights Lions Clubs.

The club recently received a memorial donation from Marilyn Heath in memory of Mabel Rush.

Last Saturday, three of our members, Lions Jim Watkins, Dave Redmon and Larry Hinck did a good turn for Alice Larson in moving furniture and other belongings.  For this good turn, Alice made a memorial donation to our club in the name of PDG Lion Ed Larson in the amount of $200.00.  Good job fellows.

We will have a flag day on Monday, October 10, for Columbus Day.  Sign up next week to work flags on that day.  We still have some delinquent subscribers to collect from.  Let’s wrap this up by October 1st.

Write your Congressman about Senate Bill #1299 and House Bill #2139 to support minting of the 400,00 commemorative coins for Lions International.

We are awaiting the decision of the Jonesboro Parks and Recreation of our planting 101 trees as International President Tam has asked one million trees be planted this year by Lions Clubs worldwide.

Our program next Tuesday will be Robbie Johnson and June Morse from NEA Baptist.  Their subject will be “Hope Week” and more information on the new hospital.  This is an excellent time to invite a guest or prospective new member.
