UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS LIONS CLUB

Tuesday - September 24, 2013

The regular meeting of the University Heights Lions Club was called to order at 6:40 a.m. by President Robert Bahn with most of the members present. The meeting was at our usual venue, the Chef's In Buffet, in downtown Jonesboro [105 Burke Ave.]

Following announcements, etc., by Tail Twister Brad Baker, the song was led by Lion Bill Dickens, the pledge led by Lion Ron Erwin, Lion Ken Stallings again lifted up  the prayer.

The pot drawing resulted in Lion Larry Hinck receiving the cash in the container. (Still wondering, what happened to No. 8?)

A report on Jim Mashburn stated that Lion Jim is still in rehab, not at home as reported last week. Of course we all miss him and hope he is improving right along so he can rejoin us. Lion Jim was injured in a vehicle accident.

Our speaker, Gary Harpole, chairman of the city's committee to study multi-family housing. If you missed the meeting, you missed out on a very good presentation, one that might effect everyone at some point.

We were again reminded of the 50th Anniversary Banquet of UH Lions will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Western Sizzlin' Restaurant, 2405 East Highland Drive. It's Dutch treat.  That's this Saturday.

Also, we were reminded that the Lions District 7-0 convention will be held on Friday Oct. 4, beginning at 5 p.m. at St. Bernards Auditorium.

The Pecans have been ordered so get ready.

The meeting was adjourned, but what time I don't know. It was still daylight.

Presented by Curt Hodges.
