Lion Leon Lee (#11) won the Tail
Twister’s pot this week. Attendance was 26 members and one guest. We
welcome Lion Marcy Harrell as a transfer member into our club from
the Black Rock Club. Lion Marcy has been a Lion since 1959 serving
in the Black Rock and Walnut Ridge Clubs.
Thanks to all members who worked
White Cane last week and a big Lions Roar to White Cane Chairman
Lion Gary Glisson for a successful White Cane Day. Our collections
were in excess of $1,600.00. Lion Gary designated Lions Don Vineyard
and D.B. Price as our super salesman for White Cane and also Lions
Ulmer, Levins, Redmon for working two shifts.
District Governor Lion Pat
Snodgrass advised the District 7-0 Convention was successful and
well attended with 79 Lions registered from clubs in Northeast
Arkansas. The visiting International Director was Walter R. "Bud"
Wahl from Streator, Illinois.
Lets remember Lion Mark Poe’s
father who is in St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center with heart
surgery. Pray for Mr. Poe’s recovery soon.
Lion Ken Helman advises that
soon we will have three flag poles erected in the yard on our
Dyeanne’s House. City Water and Light is erecting the flag poles and
Sartin Services will be doing some landscaping work for the yard.
Meetings next week- Monday at
7:00 Pm the Auction Committee will be meeting at the Forest Home
Church of the Nazarene and Tuesday at 7:00 PM the Car Show Committee
will be meeting at the Forest Home Church of the Nazarene. (Lion Ken
Stallings advises there will be prayer meeting at the church on
Wednesday).
October 11 is our next Flag Day
for Columbus Day. Sign up next week for your favorite flag route.
Our program this week was given
by Mrs. Julie Watson, Director of the ASU Equine Center. Mrs. Watson
talked about the operation of the Equine Center and the benefits for
agri students at ASU using the Equine Center. There are many horse
show events being planned at the Equine Center which are open to the
public.
Thanks to Lion Bobby Wood for
the excellent programs during the month of September. Lion Ron Erwin
will be our program chairman for the month of October. He has the
