Vineyard (#18) won the Tail Twister’s pot on
the second drawing.
Welcome to
our newest member, Lion Larry Hinck,
sponsored by Lion Bobby Wood. Larry was a
member of our club from 1989 to November
1994 with 5 years of 100% attendance. He
also was our club secretary in 1990-91 and
Director in 1993-94.
Our
attendance this week was 21 members plus 1
guest.
Our
condolences go to Lion Bill Hester for the
death of his brother in North Carolina.
Thanks to
all members who worked flag routes last
Monday for Columbus Day. Our next flag day
will be November 11 for Veterans Day.
There will
be a committee meeting for our Jonesboro
Lions Club Auction Monday, October 16 at
7:00 PM at the Forest Home Church of the
Nazarene. Members of the Auction Committee

Start
collecting items for the auction now. We
need about 150 items
Lion Brad
advised that Mid South Lions Sight & Hearing
Service has received a grant from LCIF in
the amount of $200,000 for a low vision
center to be installed in Memphis at the
Hamilton Eye Institute. Matching funds will
also be received from the Memphis Downtown
Lions Club and other clubs in our area.
Our speaker
this week was Mr. Kevin Lawrence, Executive
Director of the United Way of Northeast
Arkansas. The United Way does a great job in
raising funds to help people in eight
counties of Northeast AR. There were 23
organizations and agencies that the United
Way helped last year.
