Our Intrepid Song Leader Lion
Don Vineyard (#18) was the lucky winner of the Tail Twister’s pot on
the first drawing.
Guests this week were Greg
Chance with KASU and Jon Brines, son in law of Lion Dave Redmon. Our
attendance this week was 26 members plus 4 guests.
The Auction Committee will meet
next Monday, October 18th at 7:00 at the Forest Home
Church of the Nazerene. Sign up next week for the times you can work
the auction on Saturday, November 6th. Auction items need
to be turned in by Monday November 1st.
Lion Bill Dickens announced that
the pecans will be available by the first week of November for our
pecan sale project for November and December.
Lions International has
announced that the USA/Canada Lions Leadership Forum for 2009 will
be held in Memphis, TN. This will be a great opportunity for our
members to attend a USA/Canada Forum near home.
Our speakers this week was a
former member Michael Nelson and Mrs. Andee Evers talking about the
Studio for the Arts and the Imperial Dinner Theater located in
Pocahontas. The Studio for the Arts is an education program for
students and adults in work studies for the arts. The Studio of the
Arts also operates the Imperial Dinner Theater which has become
quite a tourism attraction for Northeast Arkansas. The new theater
just completed costs $2,000,000 has 20,000 sq.ft. and will seat 150
to 200 people.
The next show dates for the
Imperial Dinner Theater will be December 10th - 19th
and January 1st to February 6th for a showing
of The Wizard of Oz for reservations call 870-892-0030. Tickets for
the show and dinner cost $19.95/$17.95. How about our Lions Club
Christmas party there????
