At our Tuesday weekly meeting this morning, Tail Twister Robert Bahn( # 7)
won the pot on the very first drawing, which he delayed announcing before
running back to get his name tag on. He then generously donated the pot
contents to the Tail Twisters' fine collection. [Possibly feeling guilty
about the name tag caper?] Anyway, thanks, Robert.
Attendance was 16 members.
1. The club was presented with a special badge for the banner from
MidSouth Sight & Hearing CEO Brad Baker, in recognition of our financial
contribution to their recent "Freedom from Blindness" campaign to get their
patient waiting list pared down a bit. (We were one of 17 clubs which had
responded to the campaign, donating $1047 from a White Cane Day project held
in May-this was in addition to our budgeted $5000 contribution to MidSouth,
which was made during the State Convention in Conway on May 19th.)
2. Two flag days will be coming up next month: Election Day and
Veteran's Day - November 6th and 12th.
Monthly Business Meeting:
The TV Auction Committee had met the night before, and they had decided to
recommend to the three Jonesboro clubs which conduct the auction that the
first $6900 raised by the December auction be used to purchase a portable
in vision screening projects for pre-school kids in town. The device had
been demonstrated at the District 7-0 annual Convention in Trumann the prior
weekend, and is very promising - and could even help in club membership
In the finances area, it was reported by Treasurer Ron Erwin that although
we had paid last month an IRS interest/penalty fine of $2.29 AND received a
$6.70 refund check from another IRS office for overpayment of taxes, our new
professional tax specialist Georgie Redmon (PP Dave Redmon's wonderful wife)
reports that now we are all squared away with the IRS.
