Lion Marcy Harrell (17) was the winner of the Tail Twisterís pot on the first drawing.

Guests this week were Mary Hartwig and Grant Gleisner, wife and son in law of Lion Charles Hartwig. Also Gary Clark with Liberty Bank and John Ward with Farm Bureau were guests of Lion Tommy White. Our attendance this week was 23 members plus 5 guests.

In the absence of Lion Secretary Ed the Tail Twister Lion Brad Baker read the minutes of the October 13th board of directors meeting and Lion Treasurer Vern Drake read the financial report. As of September 30, our balance was $5,365.86 with $2,165.95 in the Operating Fund and $3,199.91 in the Activity Fund.

Lion Kel Helman advises the Christmas Party at the Imperial Dinner Theater in Pocahontas has been booked for Monday, December 19. Lion Ken has reservations for 33. We need 7 more to meet the guarantee of 40. Invite a friend or couple to attend with you for a great meal and entertainment. Ken also advises there will be a chili-fest on November 10 at Dyeannís House.

Itís time now to start getting sponsors for our Lions Auction and items to be auctioned. Lion Brad passed out a list of auction items which were received for the past two years of auctions and the member who secured the items. Please donít wait until the last minute or week to make your contacts for sponsorships and items. Sponsorships are $100 and $500.

PDG Pat Snodgrass advised that the location of the 2006 Lions International Convention has been changed from New Orleans to Boston and the dates will be June 30 - July 4. Here is an opportunity to have a family vacation on the 4th of July in Boston.

Our speaker this week was Karin Gleisner, introduced by her father Lion Charles Hartwig. Karin had a slide presentation and commentary about her tour of duty in Bagdad, Iraq from April to September. Karin is a civilian employee for the Department of Defense in the Intelligence Section.
