Lions Heath Meeks (#59) and
Cade Wilson (#27) were absent and Lion David Redmon (#34) was
the winner of the Tail Twister’s pot. Payton Glisson was a guest
of his father Lion Gary Glisson. Attendance was 27 members plus
2 guests.
The date of our Christmas
party has been set for December 14 and it will be a gala affair
you and your Lioness won’t want to miss. Lion Ken Helman, our
Social and Recreation Committee chairman, has booked the
Imperial Dinner Theater in Pocahontas for Tuesday, December 14th
with dinner at 6:30 PM, followed by a stage play of the
Wizard of Oz. The dinner and show will cost each person only
$15.95 ( a savings of $4.00 from the regular price). We must
have at least 40 people. Make your reservations now with Lion
Ken.
Lion Treasurer Vern Drake
presented the financial report for September which showed a bank
balance of $7,650.36 with $1,934.76 in the Operating Fund and
$5,715.60 in the Activity Fund.
The Auction Committee is now
meeting weekly on Monday nights at 7:00 PM at the Forest Home
Church of the Nazarene. Lion Brad says get items, items, items
and more items for the auction which is only 17 days away.
November 19th is
the date set for our club to collect for the Salvation Army.
This is on Friday before Thanksgiving. Put that date on your
calendar and help raise funds for the Salvation Army.
Lion Bill Dickens advised he
will have some pecans for the club to sell by next week. The
decanters will sell for $25.00 and the bags of nuts will again
sell for $7.00. Lion Bill has projected a net income from the
pecan sales of approximately $4,054.00.
Weather permitting, we will
have two flag days in November - November 2nd for
Election Day and November 11th for Veterans Day. Sign
up next week for your favorite flag route.
Our speaker this week was
Mrs. Marilyn Copeland, Director of Elementary Education for the
Jonesboro Public School District. Marilyn talked about the many
different programs that have been implemented in the Jonesboro
Public Schools and the quality education that is being offered
in all grade levels of our Jonesboro Public Schools.
Thanks to Lion Ron Erwin for
the excellent programs during the month of October. Lion Tommy
White will be our program chairman for the month of November.
