Lion Bobby Wood (#35) won the Tail Twisterís pot on the first drawing. Guests this week were Zak White, a guest of his father Lion Tommy White and Charles Frierson, a guest of Lions D. B. Price and Bobby Wood. Our attendance was 25 members plus 3 guests.
The fund raiser Saturday for Dyeannís House was most successful with 100 in attendance and gross receipts of $9,575, giving a net income of $5,730 with more gifts to come in soon. Everyone enjoyed the singing of Barbara Gay.
Congratulations to Lion Bill Dickens on being awarded the Lion of the Quarter award. Lion Bill does a great job at any task he takes on for our club. His name will be placed on our Lion of the Quarter plaque to be on display in our meeting room at Western Sizzlin.
The next meeting of the Jonesboro Lions Auction Committee will be next Monday, October 30 at the Forest Home Church of the Nazarene. All members of the Auction Committee need to attend. We are only 6 weeks away from the December 9 date of the auction. We need to start getting the auction items together.
Next week, November 2 & 3, is White Cane Days. Sign up next Tuesday for the times you can work White Cane.
Congratulations to our club has been received from International Past President Dr. Ashok Mehta, for earning the Lions Club Retention Award for 2005-06.
Every member Tuesday received a flag contract form for signing up new customers for our flag service. Letís see if we can add at least 2 new customers per flag route by our next flag day on November 11.
Our program this week was given by Dr. Blair Dean, Professor of Physical Education at ASU. Blair is Chairman of the Governorís Council on Fitness. She has participated in 11 marathons, including 2 times in the Boston Marathon. Her message to us was "Get Active in personal fitness". Next week our speaker will be a representative from CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Thanks goes to Lion Tony Bari for the excellent programs during the month of October. Lion Charles Hartwig will be the program chairman for the month of November. Lion Charles has the following programs scheduled:
November 7 Dr. Will McLean, Professor ASU Department of Political Science. His subject will be "Election Analysis with a Crystal Ball".
November 14 Business Meeting
November 21 TBA
November 28 Tour of ASU Bioscience Building
Board of Directors Meeting November 9 at Couchís Restaurant at 6:30 AM.
