UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS LIONS CLUB

Tuesday - October 25, 2011

Lion David Redmon (#34) won the Tail Twister’s pot on the first drawing.

Attendance was 18 members plus 2 guests.  It was good to see Lion Brad Carson back in our den.  In the absence of Lion President Larry Hinck, 1st Vice President Lion Curt Hodges presided.

Larissa Agee was a guest of the club and will be our speaker next Tuesday.

Our Lions Club TV Auction is only 6 weeks away.  We need to get those items to be auctioned and signed up sponsors.  If you have not done so, please pick up a supply of the auction forms which gives the name of the donor and retail value, and also signs and letters telling the merchant of our activities and what the auction does to  advertise their business and help the blind and those less fortunate.

ASU Head Coach of Women’s Basketball was our speaker this week.  Coach Boyer talked about each of his players of the 2011-12 Lady Red Wolves team.  Our Lady Red Wolves team is a preseason 1st or 2nd favorite for the 2011-12 season.  Coach Boyer has been head coach since 1999 with a record of 199-167.  He is the winningest basketball coach in ASU history.  Their first game will be November 1 with an exhibition game with Maryville University.  If you haven’t done so, go buy season tickets for women’s basketball this week.

Remember we have a flag day on November 11 for Veterans Day.

“Mid-South’s Lions Leaders Weekend will be April 13-14, 2012 in Memphis.  All Lions are invited to attend this informative and inspirational weekend featuring tours of Mid-South’s hearing and sight facilities; doctor’s presentations; food, fellowship, and fun.  Come meet Lion Leaders from all over the mid-south and learn more about how you can help the sight and hearing impaired in your service area.  Cost is hotel room only $105 for one night, $190 for two nights.  Contact the Mid-South Lions office at 888 546-6042 for more information or to make reservations.”
