UH Lions President Robert Bahn called the Oct. 29 meeting of the Jonesboro University Heights Lions Club to order at 6:50 a.m. after everyone had nearly finished their breakfast at the Chef's In Buffet, 105 Burke.

Following a couple stories by Lion Tail Twister Brad Baker; the Pot drawing, won by Lion Clinton Kissinger (#16); Song led by Lion Tommy White; pledge by Lion Brad, and prayer by Lion Ron Erwin; the meeting seriously got underway.

Announcements: Trumann Lions annual barbecue is from 11 a.m. until 6 or 7 p.m. this coming Saturday at Cedar Heights Elementary School; Flag Day is Nov. 11, Veterans’ Day; The club will receive $10,000 from the Jonesboro Advertisement and Promotions Committee to advertise the 2014 annual Jonesboro Auto Show; Peace Posters are due Friday and awards are coming up at three local schools; Lion Bryan UImer is still collecting sponsorship contributions for the Wounded Warriors Walk.

Lion Tony Bari introduced District 7-0 Governor Lion Norm Moyer, who talked about a number of subjects, including the recent Lions International meeting in Hamburg, Germany. He also handed out some club membership anniversary awards that included a 20-year chevron recognition to Lion Bill Levins [also our new Second Vice District Governor-Elect (whew)]; 10-years to Lion Ron Erwin; 45-years to Lion Charles Reeves and 10-years to Lion Cade Wilson. Each received a "Chevron" in recognition of years of service.  Governor Moyer also announced the formation of a new Lions Club in Salem for the second week of November and reported that the Spring River Lions at Mammoth Spring, which was formed last spring, is the largest in the district, followed by Blytheville. He added that an effort is being made to start a Lions Club in Batesville.
