The deadline for making reservations for the Christmas Party is next week, November 18.  We still need 9 more reservations to guarantee the 40 minimum plates.  Please advise Lion Ken Helman if you would like to attend our Christmas Party at the Imperial Dinner Theater in Pocahontas on December 19 with a fine dinner of prime rib and excellent entertainment of the Nutcracker play.  Any non member guests are welcome.

News!  District Contest/Fundraiser – Guess the District Governor’s Baby’s Birth Date and Time.   As you know our District Governor Andy Slocum is expecting.  Each Lion member in District 7-O can guess the birth date and time of day and weight.  The closest guess will win 20% of the proceeds up to $50.00 with the balance of the funds to be contributed to Evacuee Relief.  Enter as many times as you want at $1.00 per guess.  The doctor’s predicted due date is December 28th.

Now is the time to really work our auction which is less than a month away on December 10.  We need items to auction and board sponsors at $100 or $500.  The Auction Committee needs these items as soon as possible. Gift certificates for meals and services are easy items to solicit.  Also we will be taking orders for Boston Butts at $25.00 each.

Our program this week was given by Mr. Steve Clayton, Director of Adult Education for the Jonesboro School District.  The Adult education facility is located at 2311 East Nettleton and offers classes in English, Computer skills and basic academic skills to secure a GED or High School Diploma.  Their services are free of charge to the public.
