Lions Jerry Garrett (#7)
and Brad Carson (#44) were absent and Lion Ken Stallings
(#58) was the winner of the Tail Twisterís pot but declined
to accept the funds stating he preaches against lotteries.
This was a business meeting
with the Secretary reading the minutes of the November 9
Board of Directorsí meeting and the Treasurer giving the
club financial report which stated a bank balance of
$6,919.50 with $2,404.41 in the Activity Fund and $4,515.09
in the Operating Fund. Lion Ron Erwin advised our White Cane
Days receipts amounted to $1,622.77 which was excellent for
the Wednesday and Thursday work days. Thanks to all members
who worked White Cane and especially those members who
worked more than one shift.
We are now launching our
Pecan Sale Project. Lions Ken Stallings and Bill Dickens
asks all members to get your supply of pecans which sell for
$7.00 per bag or $20.00 for 3 bags. The varieties we have
are plain, salted & roasted, English Walnuts, Chocolate
Covered, and cashews. Since funds in the Activity Account
are running tight at the present time, Lion Treasurer Vern
asks the members to pay in advance to selling the pecans if
The TV Auction is now upon
us and very few items or sponsorships have been secured. The
next meeting of the Auction Committee will be Monday,
November 20 at the Forest Home Church of the Nazarene at
7:00 PM. Letís get out this week and get items for our
auction. The auction date is Saturday, December 9. We need
more members to sign up and work on Friday for set up and
Saturday from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Next week sign the duty
roster for the times you can work.
We had five members attend
the 7-0 District Conference in Searcy this past Saturday.
Lions Ken, Ed, Pat, Eric and Dave attended.
Letís remember Lion Bobby
Wood in our prayers. After suffering a fall at the library,
he developed a heart problem and was transported to Memphis.
We wish him a speedy recovery and back in our den soon.
Next week our program will
be presented by Suzanne Marlay, advisor to the International
students at ASU. Remember on November 28 we will tour the
ASU Bioscience Building. Enter the building at the main
entrance on Caraway Road and be prompt as the doors will be
locked after 6:30 AM. We will not have breakfast that
morning. How about Front Page afterwards or Hardeeís?
